At our recent After-Hours event, we were able to get a walkthrough and some hands-on time with the new Avid S3L digital mixing console.
The S3L features VENUE 4.0 software—the next major release of the award-winning live sound software seen in the Profile, MixRack, and SC48 systems.
The S3L is a modular system, consisting of the S3 Control Surface, E3 Engine, and up to 4 Stage 16 Remote I/O Boxes. A fully loaded system allows you to mix up to 64 inputs, 24 aux busses, LCR, 8 mono matrixes and 8 VCAs.
Features of the S3L system include:
- An extremely portable, full digital mixing system that could fit in a keyboard case and a 6-space rack.
- A compact, lightweight, 16-fader surface
- EUCON-enabled, to allow for control of ProTools and other DAWs
- Gigabit Ethernet AVB ports, for future interaction with other AVB devices
- 2-track recording and playback
- Connection to a Pro Tools 11 system over Ethernet, for up to 64 channels of recording and playback, including Virtual Soundcheck capablility
- AAX plugin processing, including many high-quality plugins included with the system
